ABOUT US

Each Sunday morning we gather together at Rockland Community Church (average attendance is about 50). We come from a range of backgrounds and denominations and we range in age from young children to adults nearly 100 years old! We are composed of folks who have been part of RCC for over 50 years as well as people who have joined us more recently. About 20-30 adults and children attend our Sunday School classes each week and between 12-18 adults attend our Sunday evening supper and Bible study fellowship.

We provide age-specific Sunday School for our children as well as a class suitable for older teens and adults. In the coming months we hope to revitalize our Teen Ministry with the hope that a number of parents and other members of the congregation will want to be a part of this vital part of our ministry. As part of this effort, we have offered a Confirmation/Baptism class for our youth and teens who were seeking either confirmation or baptism (given our interdenominational make-up, we practice Baptism in a number of ways).  Eleven were either baptized or confirmed in 2008 and we look forward to doing this again as the need arises!  We have a number of excellent Sunday School teachers for our children and we hope to further develop our childrens ministry in the coming year through increased parental involvement.

As God brings new folks to RCC and as we consider the needs of the community around us, we expect that we will experience some change in the coming years. What that change will look like and how quickly it will happen isn't something that we can predict. We know that change is rarely -- if ever -- easy, but that it is an essential part of life. We also have no interest in changing just for the sake of change! But we want to remain open to the changes that God may want us to undergo to better serve Him in Rockland, Front Royal, Warren County, and beyond!

We hope that we will be a church which values our history and traditions and our deep roots in this community. But we also want to be a church that is willing to undergo the changes that God has in store for us. So come join us as we journey forward and grow together!
